Brett Michaels ends engagement.  He and his longtime girlfriend and former mode,  Kristi Gibbons are not a couple anymore.

The couple have been together off and on for 18 years and have two daughter, Raine Elizabeth Sychak and Jorja Bleu Sychak, together. Both of their children bear Brett Michaels real last name, Sychak.

Many, including Kristi thought that Brett would not get married.

Brett Michael asked Kristi Gibson, to marry him on the finale of his VH1 reality show, Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It.  At the time Gibson told People that, “she never thought this day would come”.

She also gushed, “I love him for him. I’ve been through everything with him. A ring and a paper wouldn’t make me love him more. I’m just happy he’s alive.”

Brett shot to popularity in the band “Poison” and was most visible on the 2010 season of Celebrity Apprentice.

During the filming of the Celebrity Apprentice, Brett suffered a brain hemorrhage and a “warning” stroke and the known diabetic even had an emergency appendectomy.  He proved to be a fan favorite and his resilience and sheer determination helped him beat out formidable competitor Holly Peete Robinson to win the coveted Celebrity Apprentice title.

And though it all Kristi Gibbons had been by Brett’s side. After all the duo has been though, it does come as a surprise to some that Brett Michael ends engagement. Others think that if Brett was going to marry Kris that he would’ve done it already.

No official reason has been given however Brett Michaels posted this message on his websie,

With all that Kristi, Raine, Jorja and I are going through, no doubt this is a very difficult time for all of us.  I want all of you to know that Kristi and I remain great friends and committed loving parents to our daughters. I am blessed to have someone as great as Kristi in my life in any capacity.
