David Schubert, the former Las Vegas drug prosecutor that fled cuts a deal.

It’s really kind of sickening.

At one time in life, David Shubert was a well-respected guy.  He had a career as a Las Vegas prosecutor and he was the one that prosecuted some very high-profile drug cases; namely Paris Hilton, the druggie heiress and Bruno Mars.

Somehow, someway, Schubert then got addicted to drugs.

He was known to frequent the really sleazy neighborhoods in Las Vegas, scoring small amounts of crack 2 to 3 days per week.

He eventually got caught and was in big trouble.

Of course he was suspended from his big position and served as a source of embarrassment to Las Vegas.

Then, in order to avoid being fired, he resigned.

David Schubert was still being treated decently, in spite of all the embarrassment he caused, and he sort of “manned up” and pleaded guilty.

He was allowed to arrange his surrender date, and he had even postponed it at least once.

Then, his license to practice law was pulled, at least temporarily, since he was druggie and had pleaded guilty.

That’s when he likely decided that he was no going to jail and fled.

Yup, the former prosecutor was on the lam.

He was supposed to surrender in September and was gone.

At first, many were worried about him and though that, because his personal and professional life had come crashing down around him, by his own hand, that maybe he committed suicide.

Nope. He just didn’t want to jail.

He got caught and was brought back to Nevada.

And then, he cuts a deal.  Amazing.  A fugitive. A former prosecutor that was on the run and he cuts a deal.

Instead of his 9 month prearranged sentence, he now has been sentenced and with his fleeing and all, he got 12 to 30 months.

To make matters even worse, he whined and whined while he was in court about he was treated when he was in jail before he fled.

You can’t blame the Vegas cops – they are tough, however, the judges and lawyers in this case acted like they were in California.

Disappointing and certainly not just that the former Las Vegas drug prosecutor that fled cuts a deal!
