50 cents was going back and forth with a”fan” and shot back with a comment that really got Holly Robinson Peete upset at 50 Cent for autistic comment.

Was 50 Cent just spouting?

Did he intentionally mean to offend?  Likely not.

Anyway, here is the tweet that started it all when Rapper 50 Cent tweeted.

When Holly got wind of the tweet she was mighty upset.  You see Holly Robinson Peete is not just an actress that has a autistic child.  She’s a caring, passionate person who truly tries to help others with The HollyRod Foundation.  That’s why 50 Cent’s comment, whether in jest or not forced Peete’s hand.

holly robinson peete 300x199 Holly Robinson Peete upset at 50 Cent for autistic commentThe HollyRod Foundation is a REAL charity.  This is not some sham charity created by a celebrity that is seeking funds or taking loans out without any intention of paying them back.  You know, like the Mary Blige charity!   Holly is truly and advocate and raised nearly $600,000 for the foundation from her stint on Celebrity Apprentice.

When Holly first got wind of the comment, she was hoping against hope that he didn’t say it and perhaps his twitter account was hacked.  She tweeted,

With Holly Robinson Peete upset at 50 cent for autistic comment, the twitter family came out in full support of Peete with numerous tweets of support.

There’s always 2 sides to every story though and it is highly likely that 50 cent did not intentionally set out to piss off all the parents of autistic children.  It was just a phrase he used.  However it did touch a nerve across twitter-land for his poor choice of words.

One of the pitfalls of being a society that is so engulfed in the social media age is that is that comments can be so misconstrued so easily.  Since you are not face-to-face comments and conversations made via email, twitter, facebook and the like have been known to start wars before and unfortunately, it is really hard to avoid.

In extreme cases, it can even lead to murder like last years murder teen’s love triangle and which was brought on by a bitter facebook feud.

50 cent for his part later tweeted,

That is sickening. Why would someone say those things?

I have autism (Asperger’s) and people can’t tell by looking at me.
    I have a website http://thisiswhatautismlookslike.com/
I want to show people what autism really looks like. I want to educate. I want to promote tolerance and acceptance.

It might be a dream, but sometimes you just have to take a chance. It is better than doing nothing at all. Not doing anything means I accept it. I don’t.

I know. Sometimes people do not think before they speak. I think the goals you have are terrific and will help improve awareness. I just visited your site and will definitely be back!
