I heard from Dean Torkington of meatloaf.org and a few clarifications are in order because trust me it gets confusing.

We told you a few days back that Meat Loaf, real name, Michael Aday, had filed a lawsuit against Dean Torkington. Meat Loaf alleges that Torkington was causing brand name confusion by registering his act ” To Hell and Back: A Tribute to Meat Loaf ” under the web domain meatloaf.org..

Dean Torkington says that he has owned the website for 12 years. He has. According to WHOIS records, that site (www.meatloaf.org) was originally registered on March 14, 2000.

A reader wrote that the domain name meatloaf.org.uk is actually owned by Meat Loaf himself and Dean Torkington says the same thing. A search of WHOIS records show that the meatloaf.org.uk site is registered by a Kev Iddon and that site was registered February 5,2010.

I can’t say if the site is actually owned is owned by Michael Aday, – – aka Meat Loaf or not since the registered to Kev Iddon.

If you visit the meatloaf.org.uk, it auto directs to http://icwuk.co.uk/ws/index.php. On that site you find the words wrestlingsuperstore.net. Curious, I visited wrestlingsuperstore.net and you can’t do anything but click and when you click, you are brought to http://icwuk.co.uk/ws/index. All three of the sites just mentioned (meatloaf.org.uk, http://icwuk.co.uk/ws/index.php, and wrestlingsuperstore.net) are registered to KEV Iddon.

Again, I can’t say if the sites are actually owned is owned by Aday,, as some have alleged, since all three are registered to Kev Iddon.

When I visited the website in question, meatloaf.org it was clearly marked on the right side of all pages on the site that the, To Hell and Back: A Tribute to Meat Loaf site was a tribute site. The wording, “The UK’s #1 Tribute to Meat Loaf and the songs of Jim Steinman” made it clear. And Dean Torington’s contact info was clearly listed at the footer of the site.

However in a lay person’s opinion, that would be me, I could see that there were some striking similarities between the font’s that were used on Meat Loaf’s REAL site and the site in question. It’s also possible that if someone didn’t pay real good attention, there is chance that people might think they were on the the “real” Meat Loaf” site.

TMZ reported that according to the documents filed at the Los Angeles Country Superior Court, Meat Loaf wants a court injunction to shut down the site (the meatloaf.org one that Torkington owns) and hand over ownership of the domain under the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act (ACPA) plus $100,000 in damages.

It will be interesting to see the outcome of this lawsuit.

Thanks for making the changes , i have now given you a bit of background on my relationship with meat loaf and how it has got worse over the years

It appears that Mr. Aday wants the monopolyon the Meatloaf domaine names. He also purchased http://www.Meatloaf.com; Meatloaf.net and Meatloaf.UK.com

    Is that a tad greedy…?

Having been a Meatloaf fan for many years, no way do I get the impression that Mr. Torkington’s website leads me to believe it is authentic in any way shape or form.

Also one would have to be tone deaf to think that Mr. Torkington’s excellent vocals are that of Meatloaf (Mr. Aday) himself.

Back to the domaine…is it fair that one should be bullied and emotionally beaten to give something up that was lawfully purchased?

Over here in Britain we don’t just roll over…It’s a British characteristic.

Thank you for trying to be objective in your analysis.

Hi Steve – Thanks for that. I do try. I think it’s an innate characteristic of mine to root for the little guy. If I get on my soapbox, one of the things I despise (and I am not saying it is totally applicable in this case) is when someone that doesn’t have the financial resources of the “bigger guys”, gets shafted. It just ain’t right!
