Michael Vick, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback who went to jail for his role in a dog fighting ring, now has a dog. Yes folks you heard that right, Michael Vick has a dog.
He actually released a statement ending speculation about whether he has a dog or not.
Although he talks about how well cared for and loved his family pet is, there are many people who will not be on able to forget the unspeakable cruelty that he inflicted on dogs.
Michael Vick was responsible for the killing of Pit Bulls that did not pass tests on their fighting prowess.
He killed pit bulls by hanging them from a nylon cord nailed to a tree and drowned others in a five gallon bucket of water.
Further, a government informant told investigators that Vick twice placed family pets into the ring with pit bulls because he and his cohorts ‘thought it was funny to watch the pit bulls…injure or kill the other dogs.’
After Vick agreed last year to plead guilty to a conspiracy charge, he was interviewed by federal agents and claimed that he ‘never actually killed a dog,’ though he admitted watching his friends hang, shoot, and electrocute pit bulls. But after failing an October 2007 FBI polygraph test ‘as it related to the killings of the dogs,’ Vick recanted his denial and ‘admitted taking part in the actual hanging of the dogs.’
The judge that sentenced Michael Vick to serve jail time, Henry E. Hudson, was not convinced that Vick accepted responsibility for all of his criminal involvement in the don’t fighting venture.
Michael Vick can make a as many well-crafted statements as he wishes, however the fact is he was responsible for unspeakable acts against animals. Unspeakable!
How “well cared for and loved ” will his “pet ” be when it has an accident in the house? Or, when the pet tears up something or gets into something that it should not have?
There are many who believe that Michael Vick should’ve continued from afar to prove to the world that he has changed.
For many, hearing that Michael Vick has a dog is just sickening.
