In a somewhat surprising move, Stephen Wolfson, the Vegas DA won’t prosecute Giants pitcher Sergio Romo citing “prosecutorial discretion”.
As a long-time advocate of Las Vegas, the decision is somewhat surprising.
Overall, Vegas is fairly tough. Fairly.
We are certainly not as much of a celebrity friendly state like California, where celebrities are rarely prosecuted but yes the powers to be do cow down every now and then.
Notice how Lindsay Lohan is not a fixture In Las Vegas. She was for time and was continually getting into trouble – as is her nature.
Her fellow troubled former friend, Paris Hilton, decided that Vegas was not for her either, after she got into trouble, although, you have to admit, she got a mere slap on the wrist. (Remember that – the coke you found in the purse I had – well it’s not mine – Oh wait – it is mine, the purse I mean, but someone else had borrowed it)
Romo, on New Year’s Day, for whatever reason, was on his “high” horse and got into a loud argument at McCarren Airport on New Years Day.
TSA agents had called for help after Romo violated ‘airport rules” because he would not show any identification.
After the incident was publicized, Romo released a statement through the Giant’s saying,
I would like to sincerely apologize about the recent events at the Las Vegas airport, which brought negative attention to the San Francisco Giants organization and its fans. I love and respect the Giants, my teammates and our fans and promise to conduct myself in the future in the ‘San Francisco Giants Way.
Mind you that if the person who got into an argument at the airport was not a well-known personality, that person would be likely be sitting in lock-up right now!
