Disgraced former NFL  tight end Aaron Hernandez attacked another inmate at the Bristol County House of Correction in Dartmouth, Mass., on Tuesday.

Hernandez, 24,  is supposed to be kept in isolation.

Authorities say it is for his protection, but it might be for the protection of the other inmates since the accused murderer, who may be a suspect is other homicides, appears to be a very violent guy.

Aaron Hernandez attacked another inmate after earlier argument

Apparently Hernandez and the other inmate had argued earlier in the day.

Later, the other inmate was being escorted through a corridor and was cuffed. Hernandez was not cuffed and in the same corridor and when he saw the guy he let loose with a barrage of punches.

After Aaron Hernandez attacked another inmate authorities were able to break up the scuffle in approximately one minute, although still enough time for the hulking former football star to do a lot of damage.

The area of the jail that both Hernandez and the other inmate are being held has eight cells, and six were occupied at the time.  Protocol dictates that one inmate at a time is supposed to be let out so an investigation is underway. The attack lasted about a minute and neither man received medical attention.

Hernandez is awaiting trial and last year pleaded not guilty to first degree murder in the death 27-year-old semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd of Boston, who was dating was dating the sister of the football star’s fiancée  Shayanna Jenkins. Prosecutors allege that Hernandez was upset with Lloyd for talking to some people at a nightclub with whom Hernandez had problems with.

He is also under investigation in connection with the double homicide in Boston of Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtad who were gunned down at a stoplight.
