new American Idol judges being considered
There sure is quite a bit of diversity in the new American Idol judges being considered.
Let’s see, now Mariah Carey‘s name has been thrown into the mix. Although Mariah Carey would likely be an awesome new American Idol judge. it’s doubtful the American Idol executives want to part with that much cash. Even Mariah’s husband, NIck Cannon agrees saying he’s “not sure” if they can afford her. The fantastic host of America’s Got Talent said that, “he’s her husband – not her manager” but did not deny she was in talks.
Another name thrown was in as a new American Idol judge is Jerry Lewis the big time funnyman and selfless humanitarian. Although a bit up in years, the host of the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon, was fired from the Telethon that he helped create and Nigel Lythgoe was one of the co-hosts that replaced him so perhaps they developed a friendship or maybe Lythgoe simply felt bad about the whole situation and wanted to make amends. Jerry Lewis knows the business inside and out and could likely offer great advice and offer it up in rip roaring hilarious style.
When Lythgoe took over as Co-host he said during his opening comments he didn’t realize Lewis, 85, was thinking about retirement and said, “What you have done for this organization and its families is something close to a miracle and I know that we all want to carry on your legacy.”
The latest we heard was the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin want to beone of the new American Idol judges. Now we know that Randy Jackson manages her so he’s definitely got a direct pipeline to her. And she reportedly wants to bring Patti LaBelle with her. You know a package deal! Like Britney Spears and her boyfriend Jason Traywick. I’m not sure about that one. No doubt Aretha’s got the pipes and the industry know how. The thing is she is notoriously difficult to work with.

Some say she is the super jealous type and completely freaked out when Jennifer Hudson was first being compared to her. If you remember, she didn’t even make it to make Whitney’s funeral because her leg hurt her and then performed later that night in her own show so she might prove to be too much of a handful for the Idol judges.
There is also a generational gap with most of the potential new American Idol judges being considered. They made their way years ago through very hard work and touring on the road non-stop. They did not have access to the technology we have today like YouTube that can turn you into a superstar overnight – even if you are not that good I may add so it may be hard for them to relate to the “youngsters”
A superb choice would be Katy Perry. She’d make a great new American Idol judge but again I don’t know if they can afford her. However, she just might like to serve as a mentor and not be as “money hungry” as some of the other young stars
What’s going to happen with Randy Jackson. Look like he might be moved off the judges bench and given a “mentors” role. Is that any way to treat the only original judge left?
