Here a tidbit from NPR.

Off the coast of Croatia is the island of Hvar and Officials there have given honorary citizenship status to Blue Ivy, the daughter of Beyonce and Jay-Z.

The name Blue Ivy was inspired by a tree, covered in Blue Ivy at a resort on the island.

“We will have more information when he answers, which we hope will be soon,” Bebic said.

Some 30 per cent of Croatians are believed to have a Facebook profile. The mayor and many of the islands residents hope that the publicity will attract  new visitors.

All in the name of publicity.  Wonder what Superstar Mom Beyonce and powerful Dad Jay Z. think of an entire island being named after their daughter.  I’d say, in a sense, it has to be flattering albeit a bit weird.

Being in the limelight as celebrities, many just come to expect the unexpected so perhaps they take it for it’s worth and accept the honor graciously. It’s just one of those things that comes with the territory of being in the public eye.

Blue Ivy will grow up and probably be super excited to find out that an Island has been named after after her.  She can brag about it to her friends.  Who knows – she’s got great genes and may group to be a great singer herself!
