Hector Camacho brain dead after shooting
Hector Camacho brain dead after shooting, shocking the world and leaving his family brokenhearted.
It is certainly a sad Thanksgiving Day for the family of Hector “Macho” Camacho.
Although known as a small time boxer, his name was recognized worldwide,
Camacho, 50, was sitting in a Ford Mustang parked outside a bar with a friend, Adrian Mojica Moreno, 49, when a car allegedly pulled up and opened fire. Moreno died and Camacho was seriously injured.
Nine small bags of cocaine were found in Moreno’s pocket, and a 10th bag open inside the car.
No arrests have been and police have not released any motives for the shooting.
After the shooting, reports circulated that Camacho had a good chance of surviving his injuries, however, his condition took a turn for the worse.
His family is now faced with the very difficult decision as to whether or not to remove Hector Camacho from life support.
Maria Matias, the boxer’s mother, flew in from New York to be at her son’s side. She is reportedly devastated.

Dr. Ernesto Torres, the Director of the Centro Medico trauma center in San Juan. said that the bullet damaged three of the four main arteries in his neck and fractured two vertebrae. He said that if Camacho survived, he’d likely suffer brain damage.
Today, Dr. Torres said,
We have done everything we could. We have to tell the people of Puerto Rico and the entire world that Macho Camacho has died, he is brain dead.
The boxer’s father reportedly wants to remove his son fro life support and donate his organs while Camacho’s sister is against it. The boxer’s mother is torn, so the family has decided to wait for Camacho’s son to fly in and are expected to announce their decision sometime Friday.
