Things are sure heating up between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey leaving many people wondering if the Nicki Minaj Mariah Carey feud is real or not.
Apparently the “ladies “got into it during an American Idol audition.
Nicki Minaj, known for her foul mouth, really let loose with a bunch of profanities directed at grand diva Mariah Carey.
Mariah Carey is reportedly not too happy and claims that Nicki Minaj made a reference to a gun and threatened to shoot her.
Since that time, she has beefed up her security and when you see her she is just surrounded with extra security.
Barbara Walters contacted Mariah Carey to see what was going on.

Mariah told Barbara Walters that she did not feel comfortable after the gun comment so she was increasing her security team due to the threat.

She also went on to say that she would continue in her role as a judge on American Idol.
Minaj took to Twitter numerous times to vent and unfortunately played the race card.

Judging by her numerous tweets about the situation, it does seem that the Nicki Minaj Mariah Carey feud is real.
Mariah Carey claims that other people heard the gun comment. Nicki says that is so not true.
Minaj vented that Mariah went to Barbara Walters and that no one called her.

Barbara Walters responded on her show, “The View”, and said that she was the one that contacted Mariah Carey to get her side of the story since she has her phone number.
So was the “fight” really a fight or was it just a publicity ploy?
American idol has been having a hard time with their slipping ratings and, at this point, there are people that believe they would resort to ANYTHING in order to help the show
As much as we love Nicki Minaj and her music, she can come across as quite ghetto whereas Mariah comes across more as a Diva so it’s hard to tell what really happened – – – other than the sound bites we all heard. And we do know that Mariah wanted to be the only female judge.
Still, even if Minaj said it, she likely didn’t really mean it literally.
She did say that she was told she was the best judge America Idol has ever seen

Steven Tyler, former American Idol judge and current front man for Aerosmith, has weighed in saying he thinks it is all for the ratings.
Minaj offered up something resembling an apology via Twitter.
