Outspoken King of Queens actress Leah Remini filed a missing persons report on Scientology leader’s wife Shelly Miscavige with the Los Angeles Police department (LAPD).
The once devout, nearly lifelong follower of Scientology, who has severed all ties with the Church of Scientology, wants answers as to what happened to her good friend, Shelly Miscavige, the wife of Scientology leader, David Miscavige, who is reportedly best friends with Tom Cruise, one of most high-profile celebrities who follows the controversial religion.
Shelly Miscavige reportedly has not been seen in years and there are people who believe she is either being held against her will in a secret Scientology owned bunker or that she is dead.
Remini inquired about Shelly Miscavige’s absence at the wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Shelly has reportedly only been seen in public once since 2006, when she briefly appeared for her father’s funeral in 2007.
According to TMZ, a representative from the Church of Scientology said,
This is just harassment. It is a publicity stunt cooked up by a small band of unemployed fanatics who live on the fringe of the Internet.
Is Shelly Miscavige missing or being held against her will?
Apparently Shelly Miscavige has surfaced and the LAPD has closed the missing persons case.
With the Shelly Miscavige missing persons case closed, there will still be some speculation as to her whereabouts since no photos have been released
Did the LAPD meet with Shelly Miscavige face-to-face, as has been claimed, or did they meet with one of her lawyers or representatives? Were there others present in this meeting that might have prevented Miscavige from fully disclosing if she was being held against her will? How did she look physically? How was her demeanor?
The Church of Scientology has lost ground, over the years, in many US cities, however, they do maintain a strong foothold in Clearwater, Fla . They also maintain a strong presence in California, especially fueled because of the numerous celebrities with ties (and $$$) to the controversial religion.
Tom Cruise, Anne Archer, Kirstie Alley, Jennifer Lopez, Charles Manson, Jason Lee, Erika Christensen, Greta Van Susteren, John Travolta, Nancy Cartwright, Jenna Elfman, Will Smith, Juliette Lewis, Chaka Khan, Priscilla Presley, Kelly Preston, Doug E. Fresh, Edgar Winter, as well as the late Karen Black, Patrick Swayze and Sonny Bono are just some of the celebrities that have, past or present, been a part of the controversial religion Scientology that many, including cult expert Rick Ross, refers to as a cult.
In our society, with that kind of money behind you, power follows. It can even buy you power in political circles.
That means problems can, and often do, simply disappear. We also know that California, in particular, is very celebrity friendly and practices a unique form of celebrity justice that some contend is directly fueled by the celebrities and their very large pocketbooks.
Obviously representatives from the Church of Scientology are very pleased with the outcome. US Magazine received a statement from a Scientology rep,
The Los Angeles Police Department has already stated that the case is closed and that the report filed by Leah Remini was unfounded.
A website focusing on Shelly Miscavige’s disappearance has not been updated since last month so it is not known if they agree with the closing of the Shelly Miscavige missing persons case by the LAPD
Case closed. For now.
