Is Nicki Minaj too tough on Idol contestants? She seems to think she might be.
One of the best female rappers ever, Minaj is kind of worried that she came across much harsher than the other judges.
She’s got the “hood” type of mentality and is very outspoken. Shoot, she’s not above threatening the other Idol Judges either, namely Mariah Carey.
Nicki Minaj has been making the rounds, and fresh off her Sunday appearance on the American Music Awards, she expressed her concerns to Ryan Seacrest on his show Monday,
It’s hard for me to not say how I really feel…everyone else is so nice. I was just thinking back about some things and I was like, ‘I wonder if that was not so nice.’
Was Nicki Minaj too tough on Idol contestants? Well, if you’re wondering it you were too tough, then you probably were, but hey that’s what makes a judging panel.

Maria Carey is the Diva. She’s the classy one and the one with a lot of experience. She’s an amazing singer and songwriter so she can really spot talent. I’m sure there will be a few times that Mariah Carey will laugh or tell someone they simply do not have it, however, overall she has a strong desire to be a good mentor and will not unnecessarily blast people.
Plus she’s a mom so she has a different mentality.
Keith Urban is just cool. Everyone likes him and he likely has a pretty decent way of delivering criticism. He will have a way of relating to all genres,
As for the third judge, why is NIcki Minaj too tough on Idol contestants or thinks she is.
It’s likely because of her brassiness. It’s part of her charm and she fully admits it’s just part of her nature.
Whether the whole Nicki Minaj, Maria Carey feud was contrived or not, Nicki Minaj was the one who came across less favorably so with that in mind, that is probably why she is concerned about how she is coming across on American Idol.
At least she cares.
As long as she doesn’t show up looking as stoned as she did at the American Music Awards, needing people to help her walk up to the stage, she’ll be fine.
The new season of “American Idol” premieres on January 16th.
