Tia Carrere had purse stolen at Trop Las Vegas

Tia Carrere, who appeared on this season’s Celebrity Apprentice, apparently had her purse stolen from her dressing room backstage at The Tropicana Las Vegas following her Sunday performance of “Dancing With the Stars: Live in Las Vegas“.

According to TMZ, Carrere actually came face-to-face with the thief who was lurking in her private dressing room backstage at The Tropicana Las Vegas. She questioned what he was doing there and he ran right past her.

The thief made off with her purse and two iPhones. Another dancer, Anya Garris, had money stolen from her wallet as well..

Police were called and a theft report filed. The case is now under investigation.

Years ago, when I stayed at The Trop, I recall being a bit uncomfortable because you could access the hotel wing where I was staying at from the outside – without having to walk though a central access point within the hotel.  Coming back to the room in the very late hours after a night out was downright frightening because you didn’t know if the random person you encountered in the hallway was supposed to be there or not!

Dancing With the Stars: Live in Las Vegas” is in the midst of a 12 week run that began in mid April.

I am glad to hear that they were not drugged, beaten and robbed like I was when staying there. It is a shame that security in that place has no clue what is going on!

Sorry to hear to that happened to you. I hope they caught who did it!

It means that all the comments I get are held for me to review first. A lot of blogs get a ton of spam so I have a program that separates them and I then go in to the queue and approve.

By chance has the Tropicana Hotel and Casino reimbursed the money that the girls lost when they were robbed there. They told me they are not responsible for third party theft!

Unfortunately they will not get reimbursed from the Trop unless maybe they are on a public relations mission or something. I can tell you from working in the casinos for many years that the casino would apologize, take a report and contact the police. Either Tia or the dancer can file a claim against the casino with their risk management department and they could file a suit as well if they or their lawyers felt they had a case for negligence or something and then the court would decide if they are entitled to any monetary damages.

I once had a lady get paid a jackpot and about 10 minutes later she had her money out and was counting it and someone stole her money and ran out of the casino. We felt awful but did not reimburse.

I think if a casino or any business did reimburse, they would then be setting a precedent and than would have to reimburse everyone!

One thing is for certain, I will never return to Las Vegas again!!! It’s a shame that security changes what they are told so it appears they are not liable for assault and robbery by getting drugged in their casino. I would recommend to anyone not to stay at this casino, no security camera’s in the hallways anyone could enter and rob any guest any time they want to. Just look what happened to Tia and another dancer, then to have a person in Lacey’s dressing room. Won’t be long word will get out then there will be either a closed sign or for sale sign on the door!!!

Sounds like you had a terrible terrible experience at the Tropicana Las Vegas. You are right – if people do not feel safe, they are not going to patronize the property.
