Elton John hospitalized, Las Vegas shows cancelled. Sir Elton John developed a very serious respiratory infection last Sunday. Unfortunately for him, his condition worsened, and he was admitted Wednesday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
The 65-year-old British singer was told by doctors that he must cancel his four remaining concerts at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace Las Vegas, May 24th through May 27th, and follow a regimen of rest while he is treated with antibiotics.
Of course his fans are mighty disappointed but in this case, the show cannot go on.
Sir Elton said in a statement, “It feels strange not to be able to perform these ‘Million Dollar Piano’ concerts at the Colosseum … I love performing the show and I will be thrilled when we return to the Colosseum in October to complete the 11 concerts. All I can say to the fans is sorry I can’t be with you”
The forced cancellation ends his run at Caesars Palace until October. Celine Dion, herself on a forced medical hiatus, returns to the venue Saturday, June 9th.
Back in may, the temperamental star threw a fit on stage.
Elton John started his show at Caesars Palace almost a half hour late and was apparently so upset about something that he ended his show 25 minutes early. Stagehands were seen mopping up water after each of John’s outbursts. Booing erupted after the fourth time he threw his water glass. Some fans took it in stride and others were mighty upset.
Elton John has a pretty known reputation for having a very foul mouth and a terrible temper. A private bartender that worked for the show once told me that although the pay was great, it was a challenge listening to a non-stop barrage of x-rated words.
