David Schubert, a former Las Vegas prosecutor with the District Attorneys officer, fails to surrender on drug charges.

(update: The disgraced prosecutor was located in San Diego on 10-1-12 and is in custody)

You may remember hearing Schubert’s name because he was the guy who handled the prosecution of both Paris Hilton and Bruno Mars for their Las Vegas drug arrests.

The Chief Deputy District Attorney was the butt of many jokes when he was arrested on drug charges.

It is both ironic and tragic that the guy who prosecutes drug cases turn out to be druggie!

He was even assigned to a federal drug task force!

Schubert has really fallen far.

When he was arrested in March, 2011 he was observed buying drugs from a street dealer.

The area that he was in, Sierra Vista Drive and Cambridge Street, is a known drug area in East Las Vegas.

As authorities were preparing to pull him over, Schubert swallowed a rock of coke.

It was later revealed that his drug habit appeared to have started sometime in mid to late 2010.

According to the drug dealer that he was buying from, Schubert started buying drugs about 6 months before his arrest and he was a regular customer of the street dealers.

He reportedly purchased $40 in crack cocaine 3 to 4 times a week to feed his habit.

After his arrest, the District Attorneys office suspended him and began the process of terminating his employment.  He was locked out of his office and before they could finish the process, Schubert resigned.

His license to practice law was temporarily suspended yesterday because of his guilty plea in the drug case.

He was expected to turn himself in today and no one knows where he is or why he did not turn surrender as previously arranged.

A warrant has been issued for Shubert.
