Donna Summer dead at 63. Reports are circulating that Donna Summer has passed away in Florida. She was reportedly battling cancer.

The talented singer, songwriter will probably be most remembered as the 70’s disco queen icon.

Born LaDonna Andrea Gains, Summers had a slew of hits, won 5 Grammy awards and was the first artist to have three consecutive double albums reach number one on the Billboard chart.

Time Magazine described Donna Summer’s first hit, “Love to Love You Baby,” as a “marathon of twenty-two orgasms”.  She followed with many unforgettable sing-along hits.  Who can forget Last Dance, Hot Stuff and of course, She Works Hard for the Money?

Summers off-stage persona was very different from how she was really was.  She became a born-again Christian and reportedly would not leave the stage venue where she was performing until every last inch of glitter was removed.

“I was in my office in the old Casablanca building. I sent my secretary to do something, and the police stopped her on Sunset Boulevard. She was dressed in business attire, but they were trying to pick her up. That ticked me off. I pondered why that would happen to innocent people — and then I developed compassion for the girls, working on the street.
