Ex-boxer Mike Tyson still has major issues
So Mike Tyson was on the Today Show and went on a crazy rant that he was a “Prostitute Hunter”. Are you really that surprised? I have to admit that Spike Lee did look a little taken back and didn’t really know how to reel him in. It’s obvious that Mike Tyson still has major issues. Major but hey he and Spike are hoping to make bank with Tyson’s one-man show on Broadway.
The show is called, “Mike Tyson: The Undisputed Truth.” He did this show already as a limited run at The MGM Grand in Vegas where they had a dedicated website for it . Here’s what Tyson had to say about his Broadway debut,
It’s about me being on stage and being pretty raw. Not necessarily raw in a vulgar sense … I’m just naked and vulnerable, and I’m just telling you who I am and where I’m from and how this happened and how I lose all this damn money and how I had all these children and how I go to prison and, you know, you know what happened guys, right?
I’m guessing that it can’t be scripted so each night is bound to be different. Spike Lee will have his hands full for sure. Are people really interested in this? Look I know he was a great fighter, other than the ear-biting incident, but that’s about it. It’s pretty apparent, based on that off-the-wall interview that Mike Tyson still has major issues

While working in the Las Vegas casino’s, I ran in to Tyson a few times. He was always with his entourage so fortunately I did not have to deal with him directly. It was usually his “handlers” who had a request. And, I have to say, he was fairly well-behaved. Perhaps because he was well insulated by his entourage and handlers.
That changed when I had accepted a position outside of the casino industry. It was the late 1990’s and I was sent away to Tempe, Arizona for 6 weeks of training. The company put me up in an extended-stay motel-like type of place for business travelers that was in very close proximately to where I would be training.
I was on week 5 – it was actually the 3rd to last day – and had just finished dinner. As I was pulling up to the motel, I noticed a lot of cars on the block. More than I had seen in the entire previous month. They were all pretty nice cars too. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that all of the license plates were from Nevada and since that’s where I am from, I wondered what was going on.
As soon as I approached the door I found out. I encountered 6-8 REALLY big guys. One of the guys was blocking the door I needed to go through and the other guys were on each side. The guy blocking the door was non other than . . you guessed it – Mike Tyson. I said, “Hi Mike – excuse me – could you please move so I can get in?”. That did it. He went into a bumbling, baby-voiced nonsensical tirade and all I could understand was the slurred f-bombs and worse. I stayed calm and asked his handlers if they could PLEASE get him to move.

After what seemed like 10 minutes but was really only about 90 seconds, he finally moved still dropping slurred f and c bombs. As I made my way past him, I shouted, ” I hope you lose,” and bolted for my room.
A little while later, i get a call from the front office manager. He had witnessed Tyson’s menacing tirade and apologized. I said it was no problem because I am used to dealing with all types of people.
That wasn’t the end of it. The next day, I went to the place of business where I was completing my training at and the phone rang. Instinctively I answered it. The guy on the other end told me that Mike Tyson wants to visit and is it OK if he is shirtless. I said, “No”, and politely added that we would be happy to provide him with a shirt. His handler hung up and fortunately, he never showed up.
Finally, it was day 3 and I was leaving. Thank God! The manager paid for and got me a limo back to the airport which wasn’t necessary or expected. He just felt so bad about the whole incident. He then told me that they had a lot of problems, past and present, with Tyson and his entourage. Apparently, there were a bunch of fight attendants that has checked in and he was terrorizing them. He told me that they (the motel) figured the losses and damages during this visit and past ones by Tyson and crew amounted to approximately $25,000 and said that he and his crew were no longer welcome and had already checked out.
So his crazy, too much information, completely unrelated comments during his interview aside Spike Lee while on The Today Show should really come as no surprise. It’s pretty obvious that Mike Tyson still has major issues going on. I guess it will be interesting for some to find out how he fares during his one-man show during his limited engagement on Broadway.
