Gregg Allman Hospitalized
According to TMZ, Gregg Allman cut short a performance and was taken to a local hospital because of back pain.
From his Facebook fan page, the following message was posted. “For those who have asked – Gregg Allman has bulging discs in his back that are normally under control. Last night, he had a painful flare up 30 minutes before the end of the second set at the Beacon, which forced him to leave the stage.”
I know someone who suffers from a similar condition and they have said that the pain is absolutely and totally excruciating.

Allman, an amazing musician even now in his later years, enjoyed huge success in the 70’s. A number of the Allman Brothers most distinctive songs were written by Gregg Allman. Like Whipping post. Gregg Allman pretty well coined the phrase “Southern Rock”.
Following the death of his older brother, guitarist Duane Allman in 1971 as well as bass guitarist Berry Oakley a year or so after that, the band continued to perform and record. In addition, Allman then developed and refined his solo career and created a band under his own name. He even found the time to marry Cher along the way!
Gregg Allman was inducted along with the band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2006. His distinctive voice placed him in 70th place in the Rolling Stone list of the “100 Greatest Singers of All Time
Despite recent health issues, Allman still tours and delivers on helluva show.
I’ve had the opportunity to see Gregg Allman perform back in his wild days with the Allman Brothers as well as twice in recent years and IMHO he is one of the greatest guitarists of all time!
