The L.A. County Coroner has released their findings regarding Whitney Houston’s cause of death.

Coroner’s Chief of Operations Craig Harvey said Whitney Houston had cocaine and marijuana in her system and that heart disease and cocaine were contributing factors in her death.  The toxicology results also showed that in addition to cocaine and marijuana that Xanax, Flexeril, and Benadryl were found in her system. The award winning songstress drowned accidentally.

“We are saddened to learn of the toxicology results, although we are glad to now have closure,”

Patricia Houston, the singer’s sister-in-law and manager, wrote the above in a statement to The Associated Press.

Look, I mean at least the information is out and it has been made public.  That’s good.  But really no one is that surprised that she died at a way too young age and that she had drugs in her system.  She’s struggled with drugs for many, many years.  Who can forget the “Crack is Whack”  statement.

What’s sad is that this will be one of the things that she is remembered for. You can say whatever you want to the contrary but you know it’s true.

Years and years from now, her music will live on because it is timeless. No doubt.

Future generations though will learn of her though and forever associate her as a drug abuser and will lump her in that category of those who were singers and actresses who died of drugs.

They’ll remember her as someone who was booed off stage during her comeback tour because she lost her gorgeous voice.

Hopefully they will also delve deeper and remember her as a mother, a friend to many and someone who at one time had what is arguably the greatest voice in the world. She was also beautiful, very spiritual, had a gorgeous smile and was a successful actress.

I guess it is only fair though to remember her in totality and that does include the bad.

Let’s hope her musical legacy outshines it all.
