Although it was recently only “officially”” announced that Steven Tyler ends run with American Idol, Celebrity Feast told you back in April that it was extremely doubtful that Steve Tyler would return to the famed talent show. We also predicted that Jennifer Lopez would leave too and she has.

Steven Tyler ends run with American Idol because plian and simply it is hard for him, if not impossible, to commit to both the show and his band, Aerosmith.

Officially Steven Tyler said,

After some long…hard…thoughts…I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit.  I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I’m back — but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band.

He then added in a plug about his upcoming tour.

On Nov. 6, we are unleashing our new album, Music from Another Dimension on the Earth, Moon, Mars, and way beyond the stars. IDOL was over-the-top fun, and I loved every minute of it … Now it’s time to bring Rock Back. ERMAHGERD.”

Steven Tyler was a good judge for American Idol.  He may have been criticized in the beginning for being too nice but he grew in to the role and offered the truth to the idol hopefuls. Of course, any member of the female persuasion – especially a pretty or sexy one – could completely derail him!

Here’s what the top brass had to say after it was announced that Steven Tyler ends run with American Idol. Mike Darnell, Fox’s president of alternative entertainment, praised Tyler’s two seasons of judging, calling his presence on the show a “tremendous honor.”

Simon Fuller, the co-creator and Executive Producer of American Idol said,

If you had told me 10 years ago he would be a judge on American Idol, I would have thought it impossible. … I completely understand his desire to get back to his life as the singer in America’s greatest-ever rock band. American Idol will miss him!”

One thing is for sure, American Idol helped both Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez revive their careers so now it is time for them to move on.  Randy Jackson, the only remaining judge and the only original judge has not said whether he is staying or not.

Rumors are flying that he might take on another role with the show.

Will American Idol survive much less thrive?

Stay tuned.
