The expected mass exodus of the judges is in full force now and it is really not that much of a shocker.  Steven Tyler of Walk this Way fame announced that he was leaving to concentrate on Aerosmith and is busy focusing on the upcoming tour.

Jennifer Lopez has been hinting for months now that she might be leaving.  When Steven beat her to the announcement, she seemed genuinely sad and said that his decision would impact her decision.  We’ll never know how true that really is but today Jennifer Lopez says goodbye to American Idol.

American Idol has served as fabulous platform to both Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. Both had sagging careers, both were older and American Idol provided a tremendous boost to them garnering them huge visibility and really their comebacks.

Jennifer Lopez’ stardom has skyrocketed.  She is hot hot hot!  She has gone though a divorce, got herself a younger boy-toy Caspar Smart and was and topped the Forbes Celebrity 100 list.

So it was expected that it was time for her to move on.

Since she was hedging though for the past few months, we were all speculating that if the price was right, she’d stay.  According to the wrap, Jennifer Lopez says goodbye to American Idol because they would not pay her a reported whopping $17 million dollars and that “technically” she was dumped.

She announced her departure to Ryan Seacrest this morning on his radio show and said,

I honestly feel like the time has come for me to doing the other things I do that I’ve kind of put on hold because I love Idol so much.  No matter what you guys need over there, I’m always going to be here. I feel there’s that tie there. I just can’t be there every day like I was for the last two years.

It doesn’t matter if she was dumped or quit. The red hot mama has plenty of cash, a young “Beau” and she’s again topping the charts. Now we are just waiting to hear what will happen with Randy Jackson.

Will American Idols survive the mass exodus?
