Tommy Lee “rant” was justified
Rocker and drummer Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe posted an open letter on his facebook page where he was ranting about people who always want to have their picture taken with him. He was pretty worked up and few knew that the Tommy Lee rant was justified and he was blowing off some steam. Here’s a printable blip from his fb page.
Its called Consciousness; it’s the quality or state of being aware of an external object or something within oneself. Be Conscious. So like I said.. The fastest way to get me to leave is whip out a camera! Maybe just say hello and I’ll probably take ya home with me! Well I’d have to ask my girlfriend first! Hah!

Talking to Fuse.tv, Tommy Lee described the incident as “the most disrespectful — I’ve ever experienced in my life”:
People didn’t know what set him off and prompted the Tommy Lee rant.
Here’s what prompted the Tommy Lee rant. Tommy was upset. VERY upset! His mother had passed away recently – condolences Tommy – and he was leaving the mortuary with his girlfriend and holding his mothers ashes.
An unbelievably rude moronic no class receptionist at the mortuary says to Tommy , ‘Oh my god, can I take a picture with you?’”
Rather than lay into her or lay her out he replied, ‘I’m sorry, but I’d rather not.’” And then instead of shutting her mouth, she actually had the audacity to ask him “Are you sure?”
Now folks this is not like you are at a store shopping, and you are put off because a “celebrity” won’t talk to you. In that case, you can whine all you want because they are in the public eye. In my book, that’s fair game.
This is different. He was in a mortuary which means he is there because he suffered a loss.
He did call the mortuary manager before leaving and then left. Recalling what happened, he said,
I sat in the car, and I’m shaking, and my girlfriend goes, ‘I’m so sorry honey,’ and I was speechless. I didn’t even know what to say. I couldn’t believe a human being just did that.
We can’t either! Knowing how open Tommy is on his fb site, we’d like to think that most of the fans would have figured something was up for him to go off like that. And in case they didn’t know, now they do.
So perhaps Tommy Lee will change his stance on photographs – perhaps not. If you’re smart, you won’t ask for one for a while!
